This week is a really important week for our community. Friday is the Transgender Day of Remembrance and MTPC is having events all week that we strongly encourage everyone to attend. For more information see MTPC's website.

We held elections last week and we want to say congratulations to the new e-board! This week we'll be heading to Jamaica Plain for Transcriptions, a radically inclusive queer open mic night. Before leaving, we'll be meeting in 440 CSC at 6:00 pm.

Drag Show 2009

Hey all! This week's meeting is going to be a drag workshop in honor of the Pre-Pride Week Drag show this Friday night! The meeting will be in 348 CSC at 6:00 pm so get ready for some great drag. The Drag Show will be in AfterHOURS and doors will be at 8:30 pm, although we recommend getting there early as this is always a packed event. Get ready for this week because The Storm is Here... And It's Raining Glitter!

Don't forget about our meeting tonight! We'll be talking about hot (and a little queer) spots in Boston. Don't worry, even if you just moved here there'll be an activity with something for everyone! We will be metting in a different room this week, 348 CSC, but we'll be back in 440 CSC next week. If this meeting doesn't sound like it's for you, MassEquality is having a college volunteer night. This event will be from 5-9 tonight and include some phone banking with other local college students and they'll be serving free pizza! Hope to see everyone tonight!

We wanted to let you know about this great new program that's starting up, called Out @ NU! They're currently recruiting volunteers to be part of panels that would talk about coming out and other LGBTQ-related issues. (This opportunity is open to allies as well!) For more information check out their website or send them an e-mail at out@neu.edu. Be sure to contact them as soon as possible, as the deadline for applications is tomorrow afternoon!

So as promised we wanted to let you know of a few volunteer opportunities available this summer and throughout the year.

Join The Impact Coming up this Saturday (the 15th) there's a Nationwide Kiss-In and a National Equality March in D.C. in October.

MassEquality They're looking for volunteers to do phone banking and canvassing, among other things, as well as accepting applications for interns on a rolling basis.

The AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts Some of the many ways to get involved are on the HIV/STI hotline and in the resource library.

The MALE Center There are various opportunities here, including Use Me (volunteers who go into gay bars and clubs in the area and distribute safer sex kits) and reception volunteers.
